The independent UK directory of holistic therapists
What holistic therapist should I see?
Compare massage therapists, reflexologists, Reiki practitioners and acupuncturists by fees, session options and when their registration and insurance were last checked.
Why checking matters
Know what has been checked before you book.
Anyone in the UK can call themselves a massage therapist, a reflexologist, a Reiki practitioner or an acupuncturist. So before a profile is published, we check each therapist's entry on an accepted register or professional body's listing, and their current insurance. Their profile shows the dates and links to what we checked.
Compare these checked facts with the fees and practice details they provide, then decide who to contact.
Our approach
The standard behind every listing
-
Entry checked. We look each therapist up on the CNHC register for their therapy, or find their own page on the members' listing of the British Acupuncture Council, the Association of Reflexologists or the UK Reiki Federation. We check it is theirs and for the therapy they offer, and show the date we checked.
-
Insurance reviewed. We read their current insurance, check it covers the work they advertise, and record when it expires.
-
Kept current. We recheck entries at least once a year, and hide a profile if an entry or insurance lapses.
-
Independent. Not owned by a register, professional body, training provider or insurer, and we never take a cut of your fees.
These checks confirm registration and insurance on the dates shown. Finding the right therapist is a personal choice, so a short conversation before you book is a good idea. Read our verification standard.

Four therapies, one place to look
Whichever therapy you have in mind, start with someone checked
Each therapist lists the therapies and session styles they offer. Compare their approach, fees and checks, then ask them what a session with them involves. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or are worried about your health, speak to your GP or midwife before you book.
Massage
From a gentle Swedish massage to a firmer sports or deep tissue session, compare massage therapists and ask how they work, how long a session lasts and whether they visit clients at home. When public search opens, you'll be able to search by massage style too.
Reflexology
In a reflexology session you sit back in a reclining chair while the reflexologist works on your feet, or sometimes your hands. You stay clothed, and only your feet are bare. Ask how long a session lasts and what to expect the first time.
Reiki
In a Reiki session you stay fully clothed, lying down or seated, while the practitioner rests their hands lightly on you or holds them just above you. Ask how they work and what a first session involves.
Acupuncture
An acupuncturist places very fine, single-use needles at points on the body, after talking with you about your health. Compare acupuncturists near you and ask about their training, a first session and the fees.
Questions about choosing a holistic therapist
Short answers about holistic therapists, our checks and using WhatHolistic.
Who can call themselves a holistic therapist?
Anyone. Massage therapist, reflexologist, Reiki practitioner and acupuncturist aren't protected titles in the UK. Every therapist listed here has a current entry on the CNHC register for their therapy, or is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the Association of Reflexologists or the UK Reiki Federation, and we check their entry and their insurance.
What does "entry checked" mean?
It means that on the date shown we found their entry on the CNHC register's public search and checked that it was current, or found their own page on the professional body's members' listing and checked that it was theirs. We check it again at least once a year.
How do I decide who to contact?
Each profile shows the therapies a therapist offers, their fees, where they work and whether they visit clients at home. You can ask them what a session involves before you book.
Should I tell my GP?
If you have a health condition, are pregnant or take regular medicine, speak to your GP or midwife before booking, and tell the therapist too. A holistic therapy session is not a replacement for medical care.
Does sending an enquiry book a session?
No. It sends your message to the therapist so you can talk about the next step.

We can't give medical advice. If you need urgent medical help, call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency.
Already have a therapist in mind?
Look them up in seconds. If they're listed here, you'll see what we checked them on and the dates we checked their registration and insurance. If they're not, we'll show you what to ask them instead.
